It is wonderful to see that in today’s television world, not only is there emergence of young teenage actors and actresses, but also a number of talented young child artists. Some even at the age of five are opting to go for TV shows and surprisingly doing so well in that aspect. In fact there are many stars that started their career as a child artist and since then have bloomed into one of the best actors around. More so with the greater number of TV shows upcoming and a huge percentage of them being children’s show, it urges the need for child actors. As of today, there are a number of such talented little souls, but one that stands out among all of them is Avika Gor.
Born on 30th June, 1997, Avika was a diligent student in terms of her schooling. But in the year of 2008 when Balika Vadhu was being launched, she decided to go and audition for the role of Anandi. Since then, she hasn’t looked back, and today is known across every home as Anandi. The role portraying that of a young child wife has won hearts all over, and she is beautiful in her rendition of the character. At first, however, her parents were worried that her jump into the small screen career might disrupt her studies, but she didn’t let that happen. When she’s not shooting for the show, she is determined to study and is still one of the brightest in her class. She knows her priorities and is managing both her roles as a student and a child artist, perfectly well. Seeing this, her parents too feel happy about encouraging her in her television career.
Her first appearance on the small screen was for a show on NDTV Imagine, called Rajkumar Aryan. After that, she joined Balika Vadhu, a widely viewed television serial on Colors TV. The show revolves around the child marriage of a young girl named Anandi. Avika Gor with her talent and childlike innocence managed to steal everyone’s heart. In the year 2009, she was awarded the Rajiv Gandhi National Award for Best Child Artist in Balika Vadhu.
She does however claim at times that it’s difficult to display a married child, even if there’s a script ready. It depends on how the audience will accept it or react to it, so one has to be careful of what message they send across, she says. But above all, her charm and talent supersedes all and even after her stint in Balika Vadhu ended in the year 2009, she is still remembered as Anandi.
After Balika Vadhu, she is currently seen in the role of Rolly in a new television serial called Sasural Simar Ka which is also being aired on Colors TV. She won the Colors Golden Petal Awards for the role.
